St. Jude Catholic Parish

Pastoral Council St. Jude Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body to the Pastor providing a forum for the exchange of ideas necessary for the well-functioning of the parish.  This Council is an instrument of common counsel to the Pastor for defining parish goals, determining parish policies and executing programs pertaining to the spiritual and temporal affairs of the parish.  Meetings are held quarterly (the first Tuesday of August, November, February, May) open to all parishioners with Council Members and Ex-officio staff expected to attend.  2014-15 Council members are Harry Brown, Jr., Rosie Brown, Betty Dallas, Michelle Denetso, Rosemary Gorman, Joe Magee, David Moreau, Clarence Pesodas, Imelda Torres and Teresa Tsosie. Finance Council St. Jude Parish Finance Council is a consultative body to the Pastor in accord with Church Canon Law #532.  Authentic Christian stewardship of the goods entrusted to the parish guide the decisions and actions of the Council enabling the Pastor to best carry out the mission of the Church in the parish, the diocese and beyond.  2014-15 members of the Finance Council are Ernestine Davison, Karen Hockins and Lorene Watson. St Vincent de Paul Society The Society of St. Vincent De Paul of St. Jude Parish is affiliated with the international Catholic voluntary organization dedicated to the sanctification of its members through serving the poor and disadvantaged.  Such service has been historically provided by the “home visit’ which takes place following a Sunday morning initial interview session with a Society member.  Young Adults St. Jude Parish Young Adult Group gathers parishioners, who have graduated high school and older, to quarterly socials as a means for sharing time together within our culturally diverse parish.  Barbeques, Mardi Gras events, movie nights, and ice cream socials are just some of the events for this particular age-group to get to know one another and share ideas of living their Catholic faith within the parish and Native American culture.  Bible Sharing With the help of the Little Rock Bible Study materials, a group of parishioners meets several evenings each quarter to discuss different books of the Old and New Testaments.  Members prefer participating in a ‘sharing’ rather than a study as a means of deepening their personal faith and learning from the insights of others.  Kateri Circle Seeking to emulate the life of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, parishioners are welcomed to join the St. Jude Tuba City Circle which exists under the auspices of the Tekakwitha Conference, the international Catholic organization which promotes lay ministry within the Native American Catholic community.  Membership is open to Native Americans and parishioners of other cultures, encouraging lay leadership at the parish and diocesan level. Vincentian Charism St. Vincent de Paul Congregation of the Mission Daughters of Charity Liturgical Ministry Lectors Parishioners participate in Eucharistic Liturgies in a unique way by preparing and proclaiming the appropriate Scripture Readings.  Lectors are trained to communicate clearly and effectively while growing in their love of God’s Word. Music Ministry Through participation in our Sunday Choir and playing a musical instrument, our parishioners involved in music ministry enrich our parish communal prayer life. Ministers of Communion Extraordinary Ministers of Communion assist at our parish Masses by distributing Holy Communion to the faithful.  Servers Our younger parish members, both girls and boys who have made their First Communion, are invited to assist at Sunday Eucharistic Liturgy as Altar Servers.  Trained in a number of responsibilities performed at each Mass, our Servers are called upon every Sunday to assist at our common worship.
