St. Jude Catholic Parish

Religious Education The St. Jude Parish Faith Formation begins with religious education classes for children in grades one through high school. We use a Family Faith Formation Program which assists parents to be the primary religious educators of their children. This program emphasizes the importance of community and family within the Catholic Faith and gives parents the opportunity to infuse the religious education of their children with their culture, something which is very important in our multi-cultural parish. One Sunday each month the families enrolled in religious education move from our hared Eucharistic liturgy to a shared meal in our gym. Children then meet with their catechists for class while their parents have time to discuss the month’s theme and receive a set of home lessons to be used during the remaining three weeks of the month. Parents and children then come together for a shared activity. You can learn more about the program we use by following this link: www.familyformation.net  RCIA Adults interested in becoming Catholic, and parishioners interested in being refreshed in their Faith, may participate in our RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). This program also meets monthly on the same Sunday as our Religious Education Program and begins with the shared meal in our gym. Baptism and full reception into the Catholic Church is celebrated on Holy Saturday. Teen Ministry Our efforts to involve our teens in meaningful faith formation and appropriate stewardship is done through our youth group which also meets on religious education Sunday. Father Jay is presently working with the youth group and will be preparing some of our high school students for Confirmation conferred by Bishop Wall on April 21, 2015. We emphasize the importance of prayer, participation in weekly liturgy, as well as community and parish service. Catechists Our catechists are an important part of our Faith Formation program. Our Director of Religious Education works to assure that each catechist has the materials needed for class. We do our best to give our catechists the opportunity to deepen their own Faith through participation in conferences and education programs, both within and outside the Diocese of Gallup.
